Alaska LR match schedule

I have posted match bulletins for two of our matches on here regional and state championship. But if you can’t make those two matches here are the other dates. Save the dates and plan your 2026 bucket list shooting trip to Alaska! 1000yd F-Class & Prone dates set for 2026: May 16 Kenai NRA match, June 13 Talkeetna NRA match, July 18 Kenai NRA Regional Championship, Sept 26 CMP State Championship (will include AR Tactical category).

I will say any match in Talkeetna is always a good one. Also these matches are one day matches unless we get enough interest to push them to a 2 day. The state championship has already been sanctioned and will stay a 1 day match. Also we usually schedule a midrange match day before a talkeetna lr match. The midrange matches are held on Friday and are 40rd matches at Pedneau range on Fort Richardson/jber.

Maybe next year. Is the Talkeetna LR match always in June or is there more than one match per summer?
Thanks, Vince

We hold two LR matches in talkeetna one as you said is always in June and the other in September. The Kenai LR matches one is in May the other in July. Next year the state championship will be back in Kenai in July the NRA regional will be in June again this is all tentative for next year.

323 will accept bribes in the form of ketchup potato chips to increase your x count manually on the shot markers.

Trying to figure out how practical it would be to fly up from Texas with my FO gear. Does anyone know if Alaska Airlines is actually charging oversized bag fees on rifle cases? Their website indicates anything with total linear dimensions exceeding 62" pays an extra $150. Most rifle cases are 71-72" total linear measurement...

Update: I just got the rifle case question answered by Alaska Airlines. Rifle cases are treated with a sporting equipment exception to total dimension limits as long as they are not over the allowable weight.

They have yet to charge us for our gun cases, far as weight I been extremely lucky with Alaska airlines and they accept it as sporting equipment when it’s over the 50lb limit. As long as it’s not over 70lbs. My buddy coming back from swn they didn’t even weigh his gun case. He had another bag that was overweight they didn’t even say anything or charge him on the belt it went. My other friend he runs a Plano gun case that weighs 20lbs that’s the one I’m going to get my current one weighs 30 lbs. We also hand carry our rest on the plane as carry on luggage. I take the feet and whatever else they think can be used as weapon and put them in checked baggage.

I think Alaska goes easy on Club 49 people (which I am not). My front rest is a SEB Neo-X. I could leave the operating handles in the rifle case. but not much extra comes off. My SEB bigfoot rear bag is close to 19 lbs. I don't know how TSA would deal with that if I tried to carry it. TSA seems to be different in every location.

My two buddies have the seb rests and carried them on the plane. I carried my rear bag as carry on one time oh boy TSA had questions I don’t blame them on their x ray machine it looks like a block of c4. But once I explained it was a rear shooting bag they were fine with it. But be ready to explain that everytime you go through TSA. I know Alaska TSA is pretty good.
