Advise on a 22 Rimfire BR Rifle

Yes, visit some matches.. that is sage old good advice, see what is working.. i think that in the sport of 22lr BR, buy once cry once is pretty much the norm. But if you have a good shooting rifle that is consistent, then use it to learn how the game is played.. as soon as you can upgrade your equipment, do so..

As for buying use good equipment, that is partly how i upgraded. i got my Turbo X-III off of a shooter, It is a Miller built rifle with a Dan Muller barrel and a Bill Pippin stock. The Jewel trigger is coming off and i am going to put a Bix & Andy in it. I have been told that the money o spent on the rifle was a pretty darn good deal.
Hey man, do I know you ? Have we shoot ara together ?

Go to a match and ask "anyone have a rifle for sale"
Shoot for a year. Put a new barrel on and shoot some more.
Buy good stuff from the start.
Killough's is the ara place. Rest, ammo, flags .. Everything .. even a rifle.

I know of 2 Suhl used for sale below normal prices and an number of ARA rifles have been built on these platforms too. If interested send me PM and I can get info on them.

I know nothing about 22 rimfire BR rifles.

Willing to learn.

Thanks!

Terry
Just like everything in precision shooting rimfire cost bucks. How much are you willing to spend? I am low budget at the moment with my rimfire br gun. New savage mark ii BTV 370, atlon argos BTR 8-34×56 and rings 400, just installed a rifle basix trigger 80.
Am I competing probably not ecspecially since the trigger will move me to custom class. Am i having fun and shooting hell yeah.

Savage mark ii has major downsides for br comp.
1. No true br stocks available for it, maybe a mcmillian f class for 500+ with no adjustable features if they would even inlet it. Richards microfit makes one, which i have ordered for 208, buts its very risky cause most say inlet and finish leaves a lot to be desired.
2. Hit or miss on build quality, you can send it off to http://www.savagegunsmithing.com and have it done up for about 270 i think.
3. Buy once cry once is true. I am nearly 1k in to a savage that will never be a 40x or anschutz but the glass can move to anything.

As for ammo mine chose cci standard velocity.

I built bag riders for my rifle, bedded the action very poorly(need to redo it) and my scores pre trigger upgrade arent terrible for someone just getting into rimfire br with low end equipment.

I also use mine for f class prone 50 and 100 yard outdoor league.

Pictures are of my rifle and my last 50 yard indoor competition.
