Advice on Barrel

Good day,
Thanks in advance for your input.

I have choice between two barrels for an FTR build. They are both Krieger barrels.

The first one is a Heavy Palma contour with a 1-11.25 twist, 5R rifling, finished to 30"

The second on is a Heavy Varmint contour with a 1-12 twist, 4 groove, finished to 30".

My dilemma is I love the 5R rifling and the twist of the first one.

I will be using the 155 Lapua and 185 Berger LRBT.

Two questions, which one would you go with and am I giving up precision or anything else for the slightly lighter weight barrel?

Cheers

Why don't you take your time and order what you want the first time? Don't comprimise on the business end of the rifle.

I waited over 8 months for a custom build to be completed and the results are amazing.

Custom ordered barrels take anywhere from 2- 8 months depending on who you go with. Broughton was pretty much on time with my 2 barrels.... 3 months. Start looking for what you want and find someone who will chamber it.

Keep an eye on Kreiger's Inventory list. They have a Palma Heavy contour 1:10, 5R, finished at 30" on their list now... stock #C14.

I have a bone stock Remington 700, 26", 1:12 Varmint barrel that rocks both the 185g Berger and the 155 Scenar. It shoots 0.3's with the stock POS X-Pro trigger on it.

For the 155gr the best twist is 1/13 for TR shooting
the bullet of choice this year in F/TR Fclass was the 185gr Bergers 1/11.5 or 1/12 work well
