Adjustable front rest

so iam newbie to long range shooting and reloading, went out yesterday and today and did some testing with some loads I like and decided which one shot the best. Went out today and shot 48 rounds of the load I like in 4 shot groups, shot some really nice groups. I shoot off sand bags in the front and a squeeze bag in the bag.

When I have a good 4 shot group going I keep shooting that dot. The longest I went without a flyer was 6 solid shots and a flyer on the seventh that moved the group out to .85. Most of the time I get a flyer about every 4th shot.

Never been around long range shooting so my question is if I invest in a decent quality adjustable rest looking at the bald eagle with the cable. Iam thinking it will possibly shrink my groups a little and probably help me with the flyer every 4 the or 5th shot. Pretty sure the flyers are on my part I can feel not getting off a decent shot.

What kind of improvement you think is possible, and any suggestion on a decent rest say for around 200 to 300 dollars? Iam going to a ubr match next week at 200 yards and feel fairly good about gong except for the Flyers that iam sure will end up killing me.

Thanks

If you keep shooting more and more shots into the group you may find that the flyers are not flyers at all but just part of the group. If you have something like an accidental discharge before you are ready to shoot the shot then it is ok to call it a flyer and throw it out. Statistics and probabilities are real and it is important to understand what is just normal distribution and what is not. Mother Nature is a bitch. Getting one of those small ten shot groups without the flyer is a lot of fun and we are ever hopeful.

Do you have a flat on the bottom forend. If you don't, the adjustable rest and attached bag won't do you much better than a sandbag. I have the rest you are referring to. It's nice for the money. Did you see it at bullets.com. ? One tip when using the adjustable rest. Don't force the rifle to the target. Move the rest with the adjusting cable. Just saying
