Adding 20 MOA Base Question

I'm looking at going to 20 moa base to get to 1000 yard targets. Have only shot mid range to date with Rem 700 308win.

Currently I have 6mil adjustment up and 10 mil adjustment down on Sightron SIII 10-50 mil-hash reticle (.05 mil/click). This from my 100 yard zero.

20 moa base should give me 11.8 mil adjustment up and 4.2 mil adjustment down, right? The 20 moa base should add 5.8 mil to the up-side adjustment. ( 1 mil= 3.43 moa).

Would appreciate some opinions if I'm on track with my thinking on this.

Thank you in advance for input/help.

This is the civilian world, we don't use mils :)

Besides, why would you be using a second focal plane scope for milling? The whole point of milling is rapid range acquisistion. If you can't do the math fast in your head by having to do all the magnification calculations as well, then you might as well just get a range finder.

Math looks good to me. Be forewarned that 20 MOA bases vary a little. You might end up being off 1 mil from your estimates.

Shoot straight,
Keith

Thanks, Keith appreciate your review. Minor variation is fine - just wanted be sure I didn't have a gross error in my logic.

Big DMT -Since I'm shooting at known distances, milling isn't needed, though this (SFP) is set up to mill at 24x. I prefer the mil system with mil turrets at .05 mil per click = 1.08" at 600 yards. Mil hash reticle make windholds easier to make. And, if/when I get out shooting/hunting at unknown ranges, I'll have that ability. Not trying to upset the natural order of moa... :D

According to my ballistic program, I need between 10 & 11 mils for my loads. 1 mil=3.43moa. 1 mil=3.6" at 100yds.

I see. Sounds good.

A tip for new shooters - don't get a mil adjustable scope unless you can figure it out for yourself. Because unless you're at a tactical match most shooters won't be able to help you with come-ups, wind allowance etc., and will just say you bought the wrong scope (spoken from experience of attempting to help new F-Class shooters at the range :) ).
