The answer is...it depends. The PTG style single shot followers are flush with the bottom of the receiver. Obviously, every situation is a bit different but any work needed would be minor. For instance, you don't want the follower interfering or contacting the existing bedding, if any, that may be under the follower. Thanks guys! Would these work if the benchrest stock has a solid bottom under the action and no magazine cut? The TL3 uses AICS mags.
A friend just damaged his benchrest rifle with a glued in Rem 700 action so I was thinking of giving him a spare TL3 barreled action with AICS mag cut and spare benchrest stock I have. The benchrest stock has no mag cut so I'm just wondering how well this would work.
That's a big help. Thank you very much! The answer is...it depends. The PTG style single shot followers are flush with the bottom of the receiver. Here's a pic of the PTG in one of my Rem actions, for what it's worth. In stocks with a mag well, I mill a flat on the bottom and stuff a piece of closed celled foam in the mag well. I haven't done that on this one yet.
Hope this helps. -Al

Thank you for the great info.Few months back I purchased a couple single shot followers from @machineman98 on this forum. Excellent quality & fit!
I had a ADL stock that I filled the cavity in and then bedded the follower with the action making sure to provide clearance so the follower didn’t cause any stress.

The bottom of his follower has a radius so it might work well for you.
