Action options for 338 Lapua Magnum?????

That's exactly what I did, love it.
Pretty happy with the TAC 338 action I have on mine. I don't have anything to compare it too (338 lapua wise) to but it seems to be a great action.
Surgeon’s XL action was designed specifically for the .338 Lapua Magnum. For me, such an action was a natural choice for F-class use where the lugs and bolt will take a repeated pounding for years. Producing 3 sizes of bolt heads for the long bolt never phased Surgeon. They don’t use stainless steel and they ship in the white, so you’re on the hook to finish them but they are worth the extra effort ten times over.
I’m not so sure that the Remington 700 action isn’t just fine with the .338 LM. It doesn’t look to me to be smaller than the Sako action and no one worries about the excellent TRG, and the LM is a slow recoil, as they say.

i contacted remington and confirmed that the 338 LM is built on a standard action--nothing different.
I have no problem building a 338 LM on a remington action. But if if you try to magazine feed you're probably limited to 250 grain bullets. Trying to modify the action to allow longer bullets removes metal behind the lower lug--not a good plan.
My biggest complaint is that remington LA doesn't come in single shot. So to stiffen a rem LA, I bed and pin a scope rail to make it become a structural component stiffening the action for the heavy barrel.
I agree with the recommendation for the pTG bolt.
Once I started thinking 338 Imp and now 33xc, I moved to a Bat HR ordered in single shot.
