Action information

Contemplating purchasing an action that takes pre-fits.
The 2 that I'm looking at are:
ARC Nucleus, Big Horn Origin.

I am undecided simply because I've never seen or handled either in person. I'd appreciate anything that could aid me in my decision, preferably from those that have either handled, or owned either one or both. Likes, dislikes.

Thanks,
Don Dunlap

I have a Nucleus action and it's really nice, no light strikes and that is easily cured.

Larry, how many rounds on your action? I'm sure this light strike issue is not with every action that has been released. But what reading I did do on the S.H. thread was it will show itself early.

I built a 300 WSM on it, probably in the neighborhood of 100+. I don't document rounds. Be AWARE that the firing pin protrusion on a Nucleus action can be adjusted. Anyone that not happy with their Nucleus action, I would be happy to make them an offer on it.

Leaning towards the Big Horn Origin. I'd like to see them get the bugs worked out of the Nucleus. I'm well aware of the supposedly easy fix.

I don't think there are any bugs, more than likely it's being set up at the shortest protrusion to speed up the firing pin time. One thing to consider is that IF the primer pockets are reamed even .005 deeper it could lead to light strikes. That boils down to operator error more than any bug in manufacturing.

Have you read any of the threads regarding the ARC Nucleus over on the Snipers Hide?

Well Pat I've been thru a bunch of reading over on S.H. Just in that one thread there is almost 500 post, doesn't look good for now. I believe I'll buy the Big Horn Origin, maybe even a TL3. I've researched them and I'm sure I will be happy and satisfied with my purchase.

Thanks for the comments fellas.

I have one of the earlier TL2 actions and would buy another. Fit and finish is very good and absolutely no problems with this very nice action. I would think you would be very happy with an Origin action. Please let us know how you like your new action whichever one you choose.:D:D

With regards to the to actions you are interested in i have not used either. But i do have a impact 737r and two barrels for my gun that were smithed by Wade Stuteville i switch between the two barrels depending on what type of shooting i do. I have never had an issue with point of impact shift or zeroing issues. I know the both of the actions you mentioned are good quality actions. Either would be a great choice. Dont over look the option of the impact 737 option too.
