Action choice

I posted this over on Benchrest Central, but I am looking of help here also.

I am not new to F-Class shooting or precision long range shooting, BUT I am a total novice to custom actions. I want to build a 6mmBRX for F-Open shooting at 600 and 1000 yards and need some help on choosing an action.

As we shoot prone, a right bolt, right port action works much better for me tha a right bolt, left port action and it requires me to break position each shot to reload.

I will be using a 8 twist Krieger MTU contour 30" barrel and shooting prone with a Sinclair front rest and Protektor bags. I have not decided on a stock yet as I do not know which actions are compatible with which stock builders, but am leaning toward a Shehane MBR Tracker in Indian Blanket Obeche.

What about a BAT action and if so which one?

The model B would work very well. Also the DS if you feel the need for those extra features.

Action choice

Howdy !

You can sort actions a variety of ways, mostly by vendor quality and their features.

Action diameters in factory style guns runs around 1.200" or so.
Custom BR-quality actions are encountered that are larger in diam ( see manufacturers data ).

Actions can also be considered for potential use, by whether they are round or flat-bottomed; as that grealty affects the anticipated bedding style/type to be utilized.

I don't think you'd want a glue-in type action for the use you mentioned, but that is my opinion.

There are a LOT of great actions to chose from, out there.
