actins barrels

I'm new to this so bear with me. If I buy a good action,Stiller,Lawton etc) and a barrel from Hart lets say and have
it chambered, do I still need to send it to a gunsmith to
accurize it? Or can I screw in the barrel and shoot?
thanks

Most custom actions don't need any "accurizing" as they come from the maker. Many of them hold specs from action to action so that barrels can be interchanged between them. For example, if you buy a Stolle Panda, many gunsmiths and barrel makers can thread, chamber and crown a barrel for you without the action present. That same barrel will screw into your buddies Panda and headspace right on also.

Could you that with a 700?
Or would you need specks from your acion or present barrel?
What specs would you need?
Thanks, Jerry Cox

700 specs are to far apart to do unless you have that particular action in hand..
Any of my BAT actions will take any barrel from any of them and be perfectly correct.
Any of the custom actions will be the same....
