Acme 125g LRNFP COL

In an effort to bring a close to this post. I shot the following recipe last evening.
Bullet: Acme 125gn LRNFP
Powder: 231 (3.7 grains)
Primer: Federal SP #100
C.O.L : 1.360" Bullet seated to cannelure

Fired through Ruger .357 Blackhawk, 4.62" barrel & Taurus .38 spl. 2" barrel. The round was more than hot enough. Unfortunately, I couldn't get my Chrony to see the round indoors. I need more practice in how to set that up for indoor use. I am going to back the charge off a couple grains to 3.5 and load the rest of my rounds.

The Lee charge bar came in the mail yesterday. I'll check that out when I load the remaining rounds and evaluate it for accuracy and repeatability at the desired 3.5 grain charge of 231.

You may find win231 very position sensitive... I certainly did in .38 spl and I was adding more powder than you are.. I was using 125gr Berry's bullets and loading them as lead.... When you get your cronograph setup you may find them a little slow... Of course there's no telling on a gun board you have to give it a try , you will get it figured out , just of course be safe.. .38 being an old black powder load it's hard to get a good case fill , there's alot better powders out there... Like I said just be careful and make sure you don't get a double charge , it's easy not to catch.... Honestly when I stopped loading for .38 I didn't complain...

Just FYI you can roll crimp Berry's bullets pretty darn good without breaking the coating , it's thicker than you think.... Some experiments will show you how much... I did it for years with no bad effects...

Probably a lighting issue not allowing the sensors to see the bullet shadow as it passes over them. Try hanging a shop light with maybe a 40 watt bulb over the Chrony.
