Ace Rifle Barrels

Hey all, I just learned of a cut rifled barrel manufacturer called Ace Barrels in Spokane, Washington. I had never heard of them before and they must be pretty new I’m assuming. I wasn’t sure if anyone here has tested one or knows anymore about them. Thanks!

Price is pretty good for a cut-rifled barrel blank. Interested to see what the rest of the group has to say about them. If it is positive, I may have to give them a shot (ha ha) on my next build.

Here we are 5 months latter….do we know any more about ACE?
They are producing barrels in so far as I know. One of the guys involved named Jerry would show up at our F Class matches the last couple of years. They were producing for Vudoo but yes, their product range expanded. I have not bought one yet since they were not producing in the caliber I need but they will and I will at some point.

They are not new. I had a customer that used them. I chambered quite a few but its been probably 5 years at least. He sure liked them.

The original Ace barrels was in Pennsylvania, iirc. I bought a Krag in 25 Krag Imp in 1964 with a Fecker 6X scope in a modified factory stock with one of those barrels on it for $35. I was pulling down a whopping $1 per hour, riding a tractor on a neighbors' farm. I was some in those days. Herters used to have them in their catalogs.

Just had a couple of their guys in the shop on Friday. We have a few of their barrels in stock and can get them with a fairly short lead time. They are easy to dial in and chamber well. A recent one I chambered shot this with 225 ELDMs:

I think you are thinking of Flaigs Ace barrels which were Douglas XX

Dang, you brought back some memories ! Gunsmith down in Louisiana named Womack barreled two 98 Mausers for me and used those barrels. One in a 22-250 and one in a 244, both shot well... that was 60 years ago...... John

Womack was GREAT . Many old smith books mention him .

I picked one up a month or so a go to build a 280 Ackley on. Finish was nice, machined well but it was sure a bit picky on load development. 1" shooter no problem but getting a load to that half moa point proved a little more difficult that other barrels I have tried. Finally found a combo it liked with H1000 and Berger180s. 9 Twist barrel did not care for anything under the 150gr point. Seemed like the heavier I went the better it shot. It ended up shooting pretty good, shooting the 180s at just over 2800fps it would hold under half moa out to 600. I might try another one in a 6BR or 6XC and see how it does with a cartridge known for excellent accuracy.

I just finished the 6.5PRC with ACE 7.5T chambered with the AW2 version. Barrel finished at 26. Grabbed a load from the errornet to center the scope with just enough rounds to see how my bad shoulder awaiting replacement can handle the recoil. Have not shot it since.

No break in, just fired the rounds. Shot 1 round trough the Garmin to get an insight of what the velocity range might be. Saved the other 2 for baseline when I get back to the range to fireform and do load work.

Looks like it may want to shoot.
