Ace Rifle Barrels

I might have to get one, if they would make me a .470 Nitro Express. Don't ask, it's a certifiable wild hair project.
Anybody have their contact information?

You are likely right about the Ace barrels and Flaigs. I was 15 or 16 then. Lots of water underneath my bridge since then.

I know ACE was making a ton of barrels for Vudoo for years and everyone thought ACE was Vudoos barrel company or only made rimfire barrels for vudoo.

I actually was put in touch with the great people over at ACE to test some of their barrels a few months ago. Nathan @ ACE was great to talk to and very informative. He informed me that ACE was not owned or affiliated with Vudoo, they just had a huge standing order and did a ton of rimfire barrels for Vudoo for years but make lots of cut rifled barrels, both rimfire and centerfire for anyone.

I was very impressed talking to Nathan about ACE. He informed me that they have state of the art cut rifling equipment and short lead times. They can do any contour and twist you want. They will taper lap barrels with a choke to the finish length you want and mark the location to cut the barrel for you or your smith. Also, their lead time for custom orders is very short, like 6-9 weeks. I had my 2 custom ordered rimfire blanks in less than that quoted time.

I had them make me 2 rimfire barrels, a 1.2" straight taper lapped 22" finish for my RimX and a 1" straight 24" finish to test on my 2500x. The ACE rimfire shoot excellent on my RimX and from all other reports from shooters Ive talked to. Mike Manzella @ Manzella Precision has been doing a bunch of ACE barrels for customers and everyone has been very happy with them. They have been shooting very tight.

I still have the 1" straight blank, still need to get it cut for my 2500x so I havent tested that one yet.

I have a 6mm and 224 blank being made by ACE for my 6BR and a 22BR to see how they compare to my Bartleins and Kriegers.

Shoot them an email or give Nathan a call. Great people to talk to.

I finally bought one a while back. 1.25 straight 7mm 1/9 twist finish at 32 inches. Chambered for 7 SAUM. When I chucked that barrel up in the lathe I roughed it in on the external surface at both ends (the chuck and the spider). When I inserted the indicator rod to fine tune it, it was only 1/1000 off. Never had a barrel that straight before. I still need to do a bit of work on load dev but at some velocities it seems to shoot very well.

Trouble is that the 7 SAUM in a chassis using 4831 is torquing badly on the rest (Rodzilla) and kicking the shite out of me. Shot the 4831 in a match this weekend and on the final string I rolled over at one point and told my scorer (our illustrious administrator) that I thought I'd broken a rib. I didn't but I was hearing some crunching. No pressure signs, I'm just a wimp. Much better with H1000. I just need to find the velocity I started with. The barrel sped up about 80 fps after initial load dev. Still not sure I'm man enough to shoot the thing even if I do get back to the original node.
