Accubond vs SST's ?

Well cliffy, glad to see your back. Though maybe you were off on another great safari. If you are suggesting what I think you are it just proves what an idiot you are. If you haven't noticed pretty much everyone is sick of you and your babbeling. If you knew how many people were sending me PM's every time you post so I don't miss an oportuinty to hammer on you and your B.S. you would cry. Everytime I read anything you write I feel like my brain is being softened and I start to drool. As for the love comment I could believe that you would be a dirty old homosexual which would be one more reason to dislike you. I don't care if I get kicked off this forum because if you haven't been booted yet I question if its worth reading any more.

JohnnyBoy, why would anyone send you a PM regarding me? All I ever post is my actual findings from my fired rounds, or from my straightforward vault of jokes. Tell me honestly, readers of these posts, who is offended or tired of my often inane posts? We need a CLIFFY POLL, but I don't know how to set one up. I promise to leave this forum by popular request. What have I ever said that could possibly create such animosity? Cliffy, the now confused.

Thank You, Roger, for your kind concern regarding what transpires here. Back to subject of this query: Accubond vs SST fare. Both projectiles contain lead, so both must die-out soon. Bonded leadcore bullets would have become world leaders, but I fear non-lead advocates want the LEAD OUT! Much as this makes no logical sense, laws are laws, good or ridiculous. Nosler E-Tips and Barnes TSX bullets are on my summer list of experimentation. Tack Drivers and Game Getters should be synonomous, so I intend to report it as it is downrange under as controlled conditions as possible. Cliffy

Other than parts of Commifornia, where are lead bullets outlawed or being proposed that they are outlawed? Aside fromthat the SST has always shot well whatever gun of mine I tried, 6mm, 7mm and 30 cal. , but as others have said are not a bonded bullet.

Cliffy, while I am not trying to single you out or bust your balls in any way, what is your issue with using a proven, reliable and super effective round (.243 winchester) on what it performs best on, VARMINTS? It seems as though you feel the need to use the least effective round based on whatever game you are looking to take.

Don't get me wrong, I have a super potent pellet rifle, and honestly probably superior to your RWS, though I don't feel it has any place whatsoever for use on prairie dogs. They are animals usually scattered about in large prairies, sometimes several hundred yards away. That is PRIME real estate for the .243 to simply dominate, yet you are supporting the use of a pellet rifle that will have an effective range of what, 50 yards? (and that is pushing it) That is completely nonsensical. I can see taking a few close shots while setting up, but other than that the lack of power makes it more of a problem than anything, and it seems as though clean kills would be an issue in all but the most ideal of conditions.

And that is coming from someone who owns a completely tuned custom Gamo Shadow that clocks a 9grain pellet at 1080fps. And I had to slow it down to keep it subsonic. I am sorry, but it's far from ideal for anything but punching paper or residential areas.

One last thing, ONE STATE has outlawed lead bullets. Other than that, I have heard nothing of them being restricted anywhere else in the US. I am on several forums that span most of the US as far as contributing audience, and nobody but you has spoken of it. The topic of "what if" has been raised, but nobody seems to share your "lead at it's end" attitude.

You have written several pieces in the forum that I have found interesting, but some of it is just off base. I am not saying I don't want to see you post, as differing ideas make for great conversation, I just want to try to understand your views a bit more.

Kenny

Back on topic, I have had great results from the AccuBond in my 30-06. Though I still prefer the standard 180gr Nosler Ballistic Tips, as I have had stellar performance from them on several whitetail in the past few years. They have been absolutely devastating in every instance, so I guess it may just be confidence in what has been proven to me. I also feel they may expand a bit quicker than a bonded bullet as well, and in turn transfer more of the 06's power to the target. I may be wrong, and if I am let me know. If the AccuBond has something I am missing, I will surely give them a shot this season.

I have yet to try the SST, though I have a couple boxes I will try in the near future.

The WA State Dept. of Ecology is pushing hard for no lead, period, here in WA. >:( They want to include law enforcement and military as well as hunting and shooting sports. There are new areas that lead shot is not permitted. These include Wildlife Areas managed by the WA Fish and Game for hunting of ANY game and includes several pheasant release sites across the state. http://wdfw.wa.gov/factshts/nontoxic.htm

While not an official regulation (yet), hunters are strongly encouraged to use non-lead bullets for big game hunting in certain Game Management Units in northern AZ. These GMU's are prime Condor habitat. If you choose to use lead, AZ Game & Fish strongly encourages hunters to remove the entire carcass INCLUDING the gut pile from the field. See page 63 of the AZ Regulations.

That much being said, I shoot lead...as much as I can. ;D
