ABSOLUTELY FREE FOR THE ASKING!!!!!!!!

Now I've got your attention don't I? Whats free? The classifieds that's what. BUT NOT FOR LONG! Why am I shouting? Well some of you guys are pretty dense, and yes some of you are regular posters.
There still are classifieds ads by you guys going back to 2005! Our Moderator has been very patient and has continuously asked you to delete the old ads but some of you are deaf it seems.
I like posting things for sale here, because it's free, but it won't be for long if you don't comply with our Moderators request. I can remember all of the bawling and crying over at benchrest.com when they switched to pay for ads.

So come on guys please, PLEASE, go back and delete your old ads.

Danny

Mike. I did go in and delete ads listed before 2006.

There are two primary issues here. Obviously it is possible, without too much difficulty, for me to remove old ads. But I can't do it automatically. I have to manually delete. And 30 days is too short. Some items take longer to sell. 60 days might work though.

#1 A lot of things sell fairly quickly--even in just a day or two. But if the ad isn't marked "sold" or "deleted" I have no way of knowing its status. Then it does nothing but hog space and maybe waste somebody else's time who responds days or weeks later.

Marking something "SOLD",or better yet, deleting it) is not just to remove long-aged listings. It's just as important for relatively current listings--so people looking to buy don't waste their time.

#2 Clean up work is a bigger time-waster for me than you might think. Last week one poster sent me Five different PMs,over three days) asking me to delete different ads of his. Well his heart was in the right place. But the creator of an ad is able to delete the ad himself, simply by going to the first post and hitting "delete". This I explained to him in my reply to PM1... and PM2... and PM3. But still he never "got it". Each request required me to search through the archives, sift through his ads, read the header and text, and decide whether this was what he really wanted to delete.

Sorry but I have to agreee with Danny. The Moderator shouldn't have to do anything to keep the classifieds cleaned up. He's got more important stuff to do.

It's also frustrating for us regular users to reply to an ad and be told via e-mail that it was sold a long time ago and then see the ad still there a week or two later.

As a classified user, I agree...
