Back in the days of hand held inline sizing dies, a small rifle primer will travel 3/8" through flesh. Wanna see my scar?

Settle down, no powder left, weighed most of what shook out to know for sure. I might try a cleaning rod first so I don't have to deal with the primer. I have never set of a SRP, do know shotgun primers have a little behind them,I can't imagine there is too much with a SRP, I pop one in a rifle before I mess with try to pop this one.

Take it to a gunsmith. The doctor bill will be more than the gunsmith bill.
Your ideas scare the heck out of me...

What scares me more than you setting off a primer with a nail set is you thinking its OK. Its something I might try with apiece of 4 foot long rod ground to a point, a motorcycle helmet, face shield and safety glasses on under the face shield and a heavy winter jacket. Use the cleaning rod there is a good chance you can remove the case without setting off the primer, hitting the primer with the nail set is 100 percent it will go bang.

Enough in it to send a 177 pellet thru a 1"x4 clen thru .

So are you saying I could shoot birds in back yard with a 17 hornet or similar with no powder? having trouble keeping a pellet gun shooting accurately. --Jerry

I'm not sure about the hornet , but I made steel cases to hold a small rifle primer and hold a 177 then made another for 22 pellets , since I sold my 17 Rem . The 22 is about as loud as a subsonic 22 lr out of a long barrel .
I use the adapter in a 22-250 with a 24 or 26 barrel . Accuracy is less than my qb-78 . Plus it will severely damage a pellet stop .

Well, what I did do was pour some Krol Oil down the barrel and then used an old 17 cal cleaning rod wrapped in electrical tape and about 4 hits from a hammer and it is out. I will have to pop a primer in an empty case to get a feeling of what I was flirting with. I wasn't going to do was drill that live primer out had it required tapping.

Sound like it is the same process as hydro forming a case . Fill the barrel with grease and use a tigh fitting rod and hit it with a hammer . lol Larry

I have never had a fail pushing stuck cases, black powder loads, and other obstructions out of barrels. After 30 years of gunsmithing, it is my go to for great endings.

Me too, Kevin. A slow push is way better and safer than beating anything out of a barrel.
