19h ·My brother informed me of another recent find after he parked his pickup under a bull mesquite and noticed a lark sparrow fly out of a hole in the ancient old tree.
So I drove the 11 miles to the site and there it was, a nest with the little mom nestled down in good form on the eggs. In order to not cause fright, I pulled up close but not so much as to cause alarm and worked the scene over with my Canon 1DX and Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L lens by shooting out the pickup window. It was such a cool sight and I felt great about the outcome.
Sadly, a few days later her nest was raided by a damn raccoon as per the tracks leading up to the tree. It’s little wonder I have no use for raccoons!
Hope all are enjoying a memorable first weekend of August!
