My brother informed me of another recent find after he parked his pickup under a bull mesquite and noticed a lark sparrow fly out of a hole in the ancient old tree.
So I drove the 11 miles to the site and there it was, a nest with the little mom nestled down in good form on the eggs. In order to not cause fright, I pulled up close but not so much as to cause alarm and worked the scene over with my Canon 1DX and Canon 100-400mm f4.5-5.6 L lens by shooting out the pickup window. It was such a cool sight and I felt great about the outcome.
Sadly, a few days later her nest was raided by a damn raccoon as per the tracks leading up to the tree. It’s little wonder I have no use for raccoons!

Prior to 2015 I had some of the most delicious pineapples on the planet growing in my back yard Ripened on the plant makes the as sweet as sugar. Then came the damned raccoons who would destroy every close to ripe pineapple in the yard.
If I was a night owl I'd stay up a couple of nights and with a couple of .22shorts would eliminate the problem.

No raccoon but there is an Ent 2 miles NW of my house in a wash or warsh depending on what part of the country your from.

Raccoons cleaned out my sister's and daughter's chicken coops. The coops were completely covered (sides and top). Snakes were a problem also.
