A new one (to me) 40x REM

It's been something on the bucket list but it doesn't bode well with my latest (normal) taste in 22's and especially in single shots. I lean towards HiWalls, Stevens, Farrows, Ballards, Sharps and such ilk... Not that I'm prejudice or anything as I have several 10-22's from stock to MOA's to vintage pumps and bolts... Saw this one and decided to take the plunge - been following some of the conversations here and THAT hasn't helped. When it comes in maybe the incessant winds will lay down a bit and allow for some quality range time, something about the unsettled spring weather in Wyoming... Held a mid-range match Sunday - the 30+ mph wind really created some whiners. :(

Really hoping the herd isn't too belligerent when the safe door closes...:D and they're all left alone...

Congratulations. Old or new 40x? What caliber? I have a friend that work at the KCKS Cabelas. He called 5ish years ago to say they had 2 different 40x rifles on the rack. One was 22-250, the other 222Mag. The 222 looked way better, the barrel was light years better, and the price for the 22-250 was $50 higher. No brainier, I bought the 222Mag. It shoots amazingly well, and was very well cared for, built in the late 60s.

From what I can gather from the minute details I have it's a 1970 model, It's a 22rf, 28" target barrel, Olympic sights, wood stock, so in comparison to most of my rifles... brand new :D.

I seriously doubt you will be disappointed. I own 5 40-X's in .22LR, all are very accurate. Don't know if you are familiar with the sights, but 1/2" outside to outside at 50 yards is very common, some can even do better. The 40-X is highly upgradeable as well, triggers, stocks, bedding, tuners....... Let us know how it does.

This is my upgraded 40-XB

I am very familiar with the sights, I have adapted several similar to service rifles. I make tang and front aperture sights for vintage single shots. I am all consumed with the vintage single shot religion (Scheutzen and bpcr)A51.jpg A4.jpg 20180908_222331.jpg 01.jpg IMG_20191103_112841913.jpg A guy has to have different options available to break the monotony. :) I plan to post some info as it develops
Here's sharing a few projects... nothing spectacular but a small variety.
