A Million rounds ?

I was just BSing with a buddy and the question came up. How many rounds do you think
you have fired ? A million , I would guess. I think 500k for pistol comp ( 1k per week for 10 years)
300k in 22 (machine gun makes quick work of that). 25k for Fclass. 30K easy on fuzzy field rodents.
At least 20k on shot shells . I bet there is enough random shots to get me there.
Just wondering how many of you have probably made it to the million round mark?

Depending on when and where, maybe not so hard. Probably blew through that in a couple of years in the Army.

Hell, on a gunnery rotation, probably shot up $40000 worth of ammo myself in 3-4 days

When I was a kid, dad would bring me home a 550 brick of .22lr every week. I'd do my best to shoot it all. As a teenager, I shot a LOT of .22lr and wore a barrel in nothing in the course of about a year, bought a second barrel and wore it to nothing. It wasn't uncommon to shoot a thousand or more every week. I've shot tens of thousands of rounds of 9mm and 5.56mm. in 2019, I shot 25k of 9mm alone.

I'd say I've shot a million rounds or more.

I recall being so utterly sick of shooting 50 cal and 7.62 that we deep-sixed many entire belts off of San Clemente. The fun stops at about 5000 rounds per day. MK19, however.... Loved shooting those.

You have me beat by about 875,000

I've probably fired in the neighborhood of 65,000 rounds, across ~50yrs of shooting.

Mostly shot in 9mm pistols, with a modest amount in .44mag lever-action, some in .357mag lever-action, a couple thousand in .38sp revolvers, and less than 500rds in 6.5 Creedmoor.

I suppose I could add in a thousand or so from decades ago, when I was occasionally shooting various shotguns and rifles, but those weren't mine and neither (technically) was the ammo.

Pull the trigger on an M256 Tank Gun and watch the dollars fly downrange, lol, The fun starts at about $1700 a pop and goes up fast!!!

2 8lb jugs full of spent primers....
I guess i could weigh and do math ...
I've also thrown several full one lb containers away.

NAaa ..... I'll just move on.

Unless you’ve been actively in the military and in combat for over a year, if you say you’ve shot over one million rounds you are prevaricating. Just my opinion.

Enough to know better than attempt a count . US Army 68-71 101 St. Screaming Eagles VN #4 years -#2 tours .
Started reloading in 1966 so #56 years or 52 years reloading ,however you look at it .

During 70's 80's and into early 90's I shot competitive Hi Power , Trap and Sporting Clays . I do know for a fact I shot and loaded in excess of #150K shotshells . I've NO clue how many Rifle / Pistol reloads I've done ,as in the beginning I loaded for hunting group of #8-12 friends ,before many of them got their own reloading equipment . I was successful in getting about half of them to shoot , perhaps #5-10 times more target practice than they normally would have done . Guys would get excited ( Buck Fever ) 30 days before opening day and shoot perhaps #5-10 rounds of practice ,before I got them shooting 2-5 boxes !.

Competitive people KNOW what practice is and does ,occasional hunters IMO ,not so much . I base that on real world experience . There are always exceptions to nearly every rule . I've shot and hunted with some of the very best ,as well as ditto with some of the worst . I like to think of Myself as an accurate hunter and a well rounded shot with virtually any weapon . I had sufficient practice on live moving targets and it DOES make one a better shot and unlike the shooting gallery ,those targets shot back and if you failed to connect first ; Lets just say you may not live to regret it .
