A message from MidwayUSA

It may not be discontinued, but not being shipped to distributors.
Some months back, Alliant stopped shipments to the US. because
of it's base components needed elsewhere. R-22 came out of Sweden
and Sweden had just recently joined NATO. Coincidental ??

I received the same message, regarding a 4lb container of Alliant Unique. I interpreted it as simply meaning that package size (4lb in my case; 5lb here in the case of the OP) was discontinued. Not the powder itself.

I expect the more conventional one and eight-pound containers will continue to remain available, albeit subject to the periodic delays we see in most canister powders.

Apparently it's time to write Alliant off and find alternatives.

I would recommend you remember this is it ever returns to the market and let it sit and gather dust.

Many likely won't. Which is unfortunate. Especially if they *think* it's what they need to gain an edge.

Ever since the shortages began to appear (some real, some created) I have a several backup powders I have qualified via load testing.

Just today, I transitioned my Tikka 223 Varmint w/ 60 Vmax's from H 4995 to Varget which seems, at least locally, to be in abundant supply. Shoots fairly close to the same POI and within my accuracy standards.

PS: Was at my local shop yesterday and spent $450 on reloading components preparing for the worst if the election goes awry. Amazingly, they had everything on my list :) except H4895 which I haven't seen in years and pretty much have given up on.

H4895 Lot #7618 was available pretty much everywhere at the end of last October it lasted for about two weeks at most vendors an directly from Hodgdon you must've been sleeping behind the wheel and not paying attention

We're Sorry
