A Max for deer?

Y'all wasting 57 grains of leading using 162's.......105s thru lungs and necks are healthy on deer. I double lunged one at 400 yds, at 2,850 mv from a 6BR, struggled to make it 20-25 yds, golf ball exit.

Another at half the distance, bullet vaporized on the spine, facing away from me, shot from a high angle. SO, long range, not so much worry about bullet integrity, up close, hit soft targets - neck/lungs. Deadly on Bobcat, Fox, and Coyotes too.....can be nasty on hides on close shots on smaller predators.

All that said, a 95 Noz BT is my Go TO in 6BR and 243 for all around hunting it will penetrate both shoulders of a mature WT deer.

I have killed a bullet with 140 gr A-max, brain stem shot at 300 yards. they are one of the best dual purpose bullets around. And when you can place them exactly where you want them, they are very useful. I compete with an A-max and hunt with the exact same load in a 6.5mm. I have also used the 178gr in a 308 Win with great success. I also load a 75 gr A-max in my 22-250. So I'm obviously quite the fan of them.

These deer are shot with 105 Amax. Same size as whitetails. There's plenty more films with same effect

I use the (now discontinued) 150gr AMAX in my 243AI (3200fps). It works great, but do keep it off bone at closer ranges. I did have a single (out of many) bad experience hitting a pronghorn in the shoulder and not getting adequate penetration to finish the job. They do come apart.

I have a bunch of 30 cal 168s. Wish i had a bunch of 6.5 140s.

I've harvested 3 deer with the 140 Amax in my .260 ( Mauser ) rifle. 2 bucks, one doe. Both bucks hit the ground where they stood, the doe went maybe 25 yards.

6MM 150GR ??????????

140/162/168 in 3 different cartridges have killed many deer for me. All AMax bullets. Great bullet. The 140 being my favorite. Found 1200 same lot a few years ago here and pulled the trigger. Should last a while for hunting. I own 3 different 6.5s. The ELDs work just as good.
