Not so sure about that sonic crack. I've shot many 6.5 140 grain Amax bullets at 600+ yards into sand bags and most of them had the red tip with the bullet. Mostly destroyed but definitely not melted. Can't say the exact same about the 6 mm Amax but it's my assumption that they are the same tip.
