A little humor from my doctor today

I have been having some issues with my shoulder and have been to the doc a few times. Today I have to go in to have the joint injected with Cortisone, nurse cleans and preps area for injection and says doc will be in shortly. A few minuets go by and he comes in and says,... Sorry for keeping you waiting I was watching a youtube video on how to inject shoulders!
Oh the humor in that...

That's a good one Lefty.

Not joking,my GP brings his laptop into the examination room. He was a "late bloomer",didn't get out of med school until mid-late 40's. He's misdiagnosed several critical problems on me. And he's not the least bit embarrassed looking chit up on the web..... right there in front of you. He is however,a very good listener which is a very rare commodity these days amongst drs.

Have had 3 cortisone shots in right elbow from laying bricks, and in general, just abuse over the last cough,40 years. "Need" one now. IMO,they are of reducing value, the more you get. Once I can't lift a coffee cup is when, enough is enough.

The object,is to get the needle..... stop doing what caused the problem..... go see a therapist. And that is from me,not the interweeb. Good luck with the shoulder.

Did you ever wonder why the doctors business is called a practice and he is a practitioner?

From an historical perspective;

In 18th century America, this whole doctoring thing was reversed. You went to the pharmacy first.... who then, were the "experts". They'd diagnose and hopefully give you something for the ailment.... if it wasn't something curable through their care, you THEN went to the horse dr.

Was taking a tour in Williamsburg years ago,the guest interpreter was a PhD in chemistry/pharmacy. Nice lady. She explained the reversing "roles" obviously better than me.

I've had rotator cuff repairs 2x's on each shoulder...countless shots. I could give the shot without watching a video. I've had both elbows shot numerous times. I had my left elbow repaired 8 years ago and I'll have my right elbow repaired after deer season this fall. My experience is this: if you need a third shot, you probably need surgery.

At least he wasn't watching The View.

They had two meds back then. Alcohol mixed in a exilir and opium ?

The people who invented spell check need to do remedial work in grade school. They were not paying attention.

I've had both knees (several times) injected, my groin (for my hip) and my back (multiple times), whoever called this "the golden years" was either a fool or was looking through cataracts!
Or, was thinking about the $ for the doctors.

The laptop replaces a clipboard or notebook, a result of federal regulations requiring everything goes into a database in digital format. By entering everything "live" he saves a good deal of time. It allows him to quickly review your history relevant to new circumstances. And, yes, he has access to AI programs which should aid in diagnostics.

The colour is rust not gold!

As far as steroid shots go they are like magic at times. There is a price though, they can and will often cause joint deterioration with repeated treatment. Usually as mentioned the benefits are lessened each repeat.
