A La Carte 6BRA at 600 yds

She does pretty good - Now I just have to learn how to read wind. During one of the relays, the flags at 300 were pointing to each other - how do you deal with that?
That aside, this is a personal best for me with my first clean. This is with a fireforming load going pretty slow, 2760. Can't wait to turn it up.

That's some good shooting! What was the final load you settled on?
Not a final by any means. This was actually 3X Alpha, 107SMK sorted by oal, 32.06 gn of a messed up lot of H4350 - contains ~1.4% N555 because I did a stupid thing... The powder I ordered got stuck in FedEx limbo and I needed to load something, so I grabbed the H43*555 and found two nodes at 100 yds that gave .25" groups, but only the slower one translated to 600, so that's what I ran with. My N540 finally came in and I loaded 5 virgin Lapua 6BR brass with 29.6 gn behind some Berger 105 Hybrids and got 2740 fps with an ES of 3, and a 3.2" group at 600. The Alpha 107SMK H43*555 combo gave me a 0.97" group at 600, so that's what I went with for competition. Will now switch over to N540 and work with some 107 SMK, 105H and 103 V-Tac to find the holy grail.

The build yourself is here to stay.

I got laughed at on here a while back for mentioning how great a 6 BRA can shoot while fire forming. I won some club matches with my last one while fire forming and then struggled to find the right combination with fire formed brass.
I'm with ya. The above is not a true fire-forming load, but a low load on Alpha 3x fired brass. I'm also finding out how temp sensitive N540 is (so I've got Varget, N140 and N150 on order), but based this target, here's the focus on the two nodes from here https://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/6bra-load-data.3951857/page-44#post-39173505. 600 yd not available yesterday but here's 200 yd groups. 1h later and 10F higher bumped velocities by 20 fps per charge, but the groups by velocity held nicely.

Same Jump with N540 for me. Shot it in the mid 60's in the morning. I took a break and it was close to 80 that afternoon. I saw a jump of 25fps per load. The Varget loads barely moved up.

Today was one of those no temp change (+/- 5F), no wind days, so perfect to check existing nodes, and explore new powders on a limited basis, at 600 yds. The N540 Low Node was pretty stable, group wise, and the 1" group of the High Node is tempting to chase. Also, the impressive reality between the real target and ShotMarker - and I haven't calibrated this thing yet. But, there's also a tempting Varget load to look at.
Decisions, decisions...
