A&D FX120i - Battery Powered

I bought a Halo bolt this year for my scale. Using my scale at the range in the camper was very frustrating at times because of the big voltage swings. It will easily last all day. It has a standard 120v outlet .

Joe
What is a halo bolt

I’m sick of the inconsistency that seems to come from the 120i / autothrow / autotrickler setup.

What inconsistency are you seeing? Zero drift, linearity issues, calibration loss, or just variation originating from your dispenser? I've used a pair of FX-120s for nearly 10 years in a room shared with a rack of electronics and with fluorescent tubes very close to the balance. I check dispenses against a 0.1mg analytical balance; I leave them on for months at a time without losing calibration or zero (provided zero-tracking is allowed to operate). These are not like strain gauge balances that are highly susceptible to EMI. It is, however, essential that zero-tracking is allowed to operate; without it zero drift can occur quickly. If I leave my balance reading zero I can expect to return in a week and find it still reading zero and it will likely show 50.000g for the calibration weight (very occasionally it might be 0.001g out if there's been a temperature change etc).

Short and to the point. I have done everything listed to my Reloading room including a line regulator.
The only time I see my FX-120 have fit is : I forget and have my Cell Phone in my pocket . The other is a grain of Powder under the platform .
Before I made my Room Scale Ready I had most all the Strange goings on .

Good luck

Never used the scale without the battery. No drift issues with both my units. My biggest problem is that both units stop .02 low. Its very consistant, but low
What I dd for this was if I needed 30.8 grains I set it to 30.81 and you have to mess with the trickler some but most (90%+) are spot on.

Funny. I use my cell phone to run my fx120 and leave it right beside the scale. It causes zero problems.

Not the 120i. but the next level up.
When mine gets funky, I turn the power off, meaning un-plug it. Wipe the inside down with a dryer sheet, draft walls, pan, and plate. Seems to correct the issue for me.

I‘ve tried all the tricks, none really help. I think most of my “drifting” issues are draft/HVAC/pressure related.

I’m sick of the inconsistency that seems to come from the 120i / autothrow / autotrickler setup. I know the drift I see is likely due to power fluctuations during the day, because when I run the system at night it seems very stable. I’ve taken static, drafts, and grounding myself out of the equation and I’m at the point where I think just running the system off of a 12V SLA rechargeable battery might work more consistent. Anyone done this? Good results? Can anyone explain how it is done (ie how to wire it to a battery)??

Dave,
I don't have an A&D, I have a Sartorious and I had the same problem, I kept the phone away, then I got an UPS like this https://www.amazon.com/CyberPower-ST425-Standby-Outlets-Compact/dp/B07GZR981Y/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2BPFMQEQRST9J&keywords=uninterruptible+power+supply&nav_sdd=aps&qid=1636250657&refinements=p_36:1253505011&rnid=386442011&s=electronics&sprefix=unin&sr=1-4 and it solved my problem. Two years ago it came back, then I realized that my new car FOB was the source of the new problem. Now I leave my keys and phone out of the room when I'm using the scale. YMMV.

Joe

PS If you have a motor like a refrigerator or dishwasher on the same circuit it will give you fits if you don't use an UPS

I recently renovated my reloading room and now have a tracking line filter hardwired to supply the bench outlets.

No drifting issues whatsoever and my phone is a few feet away for playing tunes via bluetooth. No interference from that either.20211107_202542.jpg

Does anyone know how long the scale / autothrow / autotrickler combo will run on the halo Bolt??

dave
The guy that I talked to and got the idea from was using a charge master and said he could get 2 days of use before it was needing recharged.
I used mine for a whole day with just my scale running on it and it would still show a full charge.

That sounds like something I need to do.

I think I’m going to order one and give it a try
