90 Grain Berger with a 1-12

I was able to get good groups with the berger 88's in my 1-12 twist 243 win. It seems the 88's are extinct as of now. Will I be able to make the 90 VLD target bullets work the same way? Has anyone use these bullets on coyotes? Thanks in advance.

I tried the 90's in my 6-284 (12 tw) didn't work out (keyholed) but the 88's are wonderfully accurate.

You need a shorter bullet than the 90, look at the Berger web site and they will tell you the minimum twist rate for their bullets.

My guess - not a chance. I'm using a 7-twist for these, and they've worked great out to 1000 yd (30" barrel, 2860 fps). At that velocity, Berger's calculator shows ~6.8 twist as optimal. A 12-twist will likely not cut it, even at ridiculously high velocities.

They are talking about 243s not 224s

3684 X 720 = 2652480 Divided twist "12" = 221040 RPM that should be enough to stabilize them.

I guess your rig just doesn't like them.

In general, then if I were to try to load them with RL17, ( The fastest powder I have used ) then that would give me my best chance?? Im using H100-V with the 88's.

Yes exactly, you could be right on they edge of making them work, I would not be surprised if they did cooperate.

if i could not find the 87 or 88 ber.ger or 87 horn ; i would try 90 scenar
