85.5 Berger long range hybrid

I am shooting these in my 223 with a stout load(24 grains) of H4895 with no pressure signs and getting great results but was wondering what was working for anyone else using these bullets in a 223.

Thanks,

I’m running them in a 223AI with 24.5 grains of H4895 and it’s the top safe load in that particular rifle. 2.500 OAL

24 seems like it might be a lot of H4895 in a 223 case. But to each their own of course.

I’ve shot 1300-1400 of the 85.5 and in my rifle I’m slightly ahead of a 6br shooting 105s

It’s been a great bullet thus far.

Loading Varget in a 24" AR at 2780 fps and 0.010" off the lands (2.480 OAL). Getting excellent results - sub MOA at 400 yards. 1:8 twist

I really don't like how little of the bullet is in the neck with these bullets, which seems to lead to more sensitivity to achieve consistent neck tension. I want to like them but I'm still on the fence.

They shoot great for me at 100 but going to 200 they started opening up. My 1:8 barrel isn’t really stabilizing them. I have a 1:7 on order due in about 12 weeks. Then i will take another look. They tolerate a lot of jump, at least in my current barrel

Folks, I have been using 25.4 (.42-.44) grns N140 in Lapua and LC 08 cases with CCI450's. Please see previous postings per Nedd Ludd reference. Those combinations perform very well but hard on brass. I also had a buildup of carbon so that might have been part of the problem. I am backing down to 25 grns next two LR matches to see if I can get better brass life without compromising accuracy.

About 1250’ASL @ 1k. 31” barrel at right around 3100 @ muzzle. 223 with Manson T15 FB chamber.

this was fired @ 1k, from sling with irons testing elevation stability. I hiccuped #10 because I suck.

How many firings are you getting out of your brass? I am getting about 2940 from a 30in barrel but there is a price to pay.
