80grs 22-250

I was wondering would a heavy 75-80grn 22-250 make for a good reduced XTC round? I mean a load right out of Hornady's book nothing too fancy as far a highly prepped reload. I was thinking about haveing 2 Eliso R5'S one for long course and the other for reduced. The long being 6xc or 6.5 creedmore.

You're going to need at least a 1:8 twist. The 75gr Amaxs will be allot better with that twist rate. I never could get the 80's to group well from the 22-250 they did buck the wind pretty good, 75's were lasers. I ran a McGowen 1:8 26' for a year and a half.

There are much better rounds than the 22-250 for that kind of work. I say that with the caveat that the 22-250 was the first round I started with, shot for many years, and holds a special place in my safe and reloading bench.

Yeah I with you on the 22-250 being the first. I am no matter what going to have a 22-250 running 75grs either in a xtc rifle or taticle/varmint rifle. Yeah their are way better rounds.
