I went and shot the other day I had loaded 25 rounds with 5 each of Varget starting at 23.5 going to 24.5 in .3 grain anyway I expected a bug hole group out of that.. 24.2 looked like it was about to come together in the scope but once I walked down I had a pretty far out flier in the black portion of the target ring 24.5 looked about the same as the 24.2 charge. No real pressure signs other than primer is definitely flattening this is all with 77 smk’s in Lapua brass using a Redding bushing die and wilson inline seater
I’m thinking of going back to the RL15 and doing something similar.. for an experiment I loaded some 23.8 gr of 748 which someone was swearing by as a go to 600 yard load.
this proof barrel is proving to be the most difficult to get to shoot for me, I’m close to a 100 rounds on it now and don’t have anything that shoots below say 7/8” for 5 shots and my fliers I see are on round 3-4 not the last one so.. scratching my head some.. they seem to go to the left always though
I’m shooting off a bald Eagle rear bag and front bag on a machine rest I made which is 100% solid. I really don’t think it’s bad shooting on my part.
