What velocity do you get,if known?RIFLE1 said:I built myself one,....I use 7 BR dies to bump the shoulder and to seat.
35 grains of Varget with a SRA MK 168,.... Great Silhouette caliber.
Got my reamer from Dave Kiff at PT&G. .3156 neck. Loaded rounds after necking up measure .3095 .3100 ish. Can't remember the FB and I'm at work. I'll try to post it tonight. Whatever it is, it's pretty nice. You can do 110 gr flatbase up through 168 gr VLD at 308 mag length.
I'll shoot it this weekend and post some back. My plan is to work from the data in Jason Baney's article on here.
I'll post back with results. It's a hunting rifle, so don't expect Benchrest results.
The FL die is a Redding bushing die with the bushing "deck" drilled out to accept the larger neck. The seater was cut from a Wilson blank with my reamer.

Hi Paul, it's a Manners. I picked it up used on here.
I'm building one on a M7 action and a flyweight mullerworks barrel. I was just planning on using my 6.5X47 chamber reamer and a separate neck/throater reamer. I like that post on the 7mmBR dies as I was having a hell of a time finding someone to make me a resize die.
That was my initial thought with a bushing die, but thought opening up the forward shoulder in a bushing die would leave too much of the base of the neck unsized...probably a non-issue and since I have an extra bushing die 6.5X47 I'll try that route after I get this chambered and put together. ThanksJust make the FL die from a Redding 6.5x47 die. Easy peasy.
Other than the "I knew I could do it" aspect of this I have to ask why. Can the 7x47 come close to matching the 7MM08 in velocity, accuracy and ease. I guess there was a time when a "Lapua-Lover" just couldn't get along with 7MM08 but now even they have brass with the 7MM08 head stamp on it.
Sorry for being a downer here but some projects just aren't worthy.
But OK, just for argument sake, should't one be able to take a Redding S Type (FL or NK) die in 6.5x47, change the bushing out to match the 7x47 neck and have the dies they need? I've done it with 6/6.5 Creedmoor.

My hunting 7MM08 is a Model 7 and it feeds fine. My other 7MM08 is a GAP barrel on an AIAW. The 168 grain VLDs work fine with those mags but I guess I could see potential for problems trying to get longest COAL with the less roomy AICS mags.I would think the 7 x 47 would be a much better fit in an AI Mag if you were inclined to run one. Should be an awesome rifle built on the great Tikka action.
