7x47 Lapua

Looking for a 7x47 Lapua Finish Reamer would like to rent one If someone has one. Yes I know PTG Clymer etc will make one, Just hoping someone has one They would not mind renting! Thanks Gat

I'v been toying with the 7x47L idea. Could you use that reamer to open a Foster 6.5X47L full length die or are dies too hard?

Dies are way too hard. It would kill the reamer in seconds.

I was afraid of that.... but I had to ask. I have a 7-08 AI, but like the longer neck of the 6.5X47L. How would you go about getting FL dies for a 7x47L for a reasonable price? Could you just open a 6.5x47L to 7mm?

@bsekf

Dies are easy as pie.

Get a 6.5x47L bushing FL die. Then use a carbide chucking reamer to open the “shelf” that the bushing sits on.

For seating dies, you can cut a Wilson chamber type with the chamber reamer or you can replace the 6.5 sleeve in Forster (etc) Competition seaters with a 7mm sleeve.

I’ve done this many times now. No issues.

As an aside, I don’t surf on here nearly as much as I used to. I have too many irons in the fire. So, if you have 7x47 L questions, use the quote function or tag me so that I’ll get an alert.

Every die that I’ve tried needed it. Three brands. That’s all that I can say.
