7x30 waters lever gun info

I have a 10" Contender barrel in 7x30. I've have not shot it in a long time. Varget and 120 Balistic Tip were my go to. Doesn't help for your lever gun.

I had a TC Pistol, and TC Carbine rifle, plus a lever gun. I killed a nice buck around 320 yards with the Lever gun, 200 yd zero with 120g Nosler ballistic tips, two shot rifle with one in the chamber one one in the magazine. I never needed a third shot. 120g Ballistic tips take the rifle to another level.

I used a Contendar carbine set up one year in 7x30 shooring the Hornady Single Shot bullets, I think 120 gr. 1 shot kill on a buck at a bit over 100 yds Buck went about 10 yards and fell dead shot right through the heart.

I believe that, Nosler made, a 120 gr. Flat Nose B Tip for, the 7 x 30 Waters,.. at One Time.
Like everyone Else "Here" I use, the pointed, 120 gr. Bal. Tip's at, 2650- 2,700 fps from my 21" SS T C Contender Barrel.
Easy MOA Group's with, H-414 Powder, Win Lge Rifle prs and the NBT 120's !
For "Lever Rifle" use,.. ONE in Chamber,.. ONE in Mag and,.. Enjoy, the Accuracy !

Like the others, my 7-30 experience is in Contenders not lever guns. There's lots of good powders that can be used, 4895, RL-15, and 2520 were what I've used the most

Yep, ... still have a few. Hornady makes (or made) a 139 grain for a lever as well.

Do some research on Ken Waters, ... 7-30 developer. If you can get your hands on his book, "Pet Loads" there are 4 chapters in it that goes through the development and best loads.

I shoot both a Contender and a Win Model 94 in the round. Best powder for me has been W748, ... still readily available.

I still Have some of, Ken Waters writings saved about, early Devlopment / tests on, the 7x30 Waters.
My Load Data for H-414 ( 39.5 grs H-414 and 120's ) comes from, the Nosler Reloading Book, Number 3

( I Save All this, Old chit,.. LOL ).
My Barrel LOVES,.. the 120 NBT's at, 2600 fps and,.. 1 MOA or, better, group's !
AND,. Easier than, 140's, on My Shoulder from, a 5 Pound Rifle !

One more thing I might add, ... I would not use any "fired" 30-30 brass from any source, ... just new stuff.

No need to ask me how I know, LOL.
