7mmSAUM in a Short Action Need OAL for 180s

I am planning on building a 7mmSAUM in a short action. I want to be able to feed from the short action magazine which limits me to 2.975". Am I going to be able to shoot the Bergers 180 Hybrids or the Sierras 180 SMKs?

Yes you can do this. Make sure your gunsmith throats your chamber accordingly. I think this Sierras might work better for this application since they are almost .075 shorter than the Berger hybrids. The bullets I measured are 1.525 and 1.452

Yeah you want to use the shorter bullet for that. I am in the middle of building the same rifle. I went with the SAUM over the WSM because its a shorter case. And thus can work with the longer bullets a little better.

I think youll be fine with the 180 VLDs but some more of the bullets than liked will be in the case. Not a big deal really.
