i have 7RM rifles, dies, components ect and i have a short chambered 7RM barrel Im thinking of taking to 28 nosler also instead of just finishing it as a 7RM. I have to buy a reamer either way i go, also dies, brass and more powder, but hey -why not a new adventure while i still can. Ill wait though till I can easily buy this stuff. Right now Im even out of powder for the heavier bullet loads in my 7RMsI've got a couple of 7mm RM barrels I'm gonna punch out to 28 Nosler. Chamber should clean up completely and give a little extra mph.
I know this is taboo to some people but when i was on my savage kick i shot out 2 7rm barrels but went through twice the brass because of the headspace gauges. Got my new 7rm barrel got new brass and used packing tape instead of the regular tape and never looked back now my cases never grow more than 3to4 thou instead of the stupid 13thou they did beforeJust rebarrel to 7mm Remington Mag... there are several do it yourself prechambered manufacturers...bug nuts.. Southern Precision Rifles comes to mind...get or borrow a belted mag go gage and install the barrel yourself... easy. And ya have all the brass, dies, powder, etc for the 7 mag. It works.. no need to chase the propaganda and fantasy land of micro inches, the better brand new caliber propaganda with all these new rounds...I've done it, with a few of them, many are fun... but the real advantage is between your ears.
