7mm rem mag longest shot on animal??????

that's awesome. what's your gun sighted in at? did you use chart? what was moa? it's damn hard to get shots that long around here. what scope? velocity of ammo? sorry so many questions. that would be my dream shot. ;D

Saw a hunting buddy drop an Elk at 443 yds a few years back. It only took 2 steps after his rifle cracked. Amazingly to me he was just using (as I recall) a 139gr (?)Nosler bullet. WD

Toby, I used a rem 700 with a rechambered sendero barrel. Rem brass matched preped. H4831 and 162a-max. going 2890fps. Scope is a bushnell 6500 4.5x30x50. I forget the accual drop but 16min rings a bell. On that trip we got antelope at 855 851 765 610 all bang flop. the 765 took 2 shots as the first was high over his back.

i'm very envious. i shot mine at 600 one time. all 10 shots would have dropped something. ;D. what twist does your barrel have? i hope to get a varmint at 600 by the end of next season.

i have a savage model 12 f/tr with a 9 and a half twist. got same scope but in 16 power. got comp 45x45 on it right now. 3031 fps. i gotta get up in the field and start practicing. i don't think i've tapped its potential even close yet.

Well there you go model 12, Russ made a lethal hit on a piece of steel @ just over a mile. Most people don't have glass enough to even see that far. Years ago I took a mule deer with a 160 nosler bt. don't remember the load data, but we didn't have the bullets or equipment we do now, it was a irresposable ignorant thing to do, but at the time it seemed the thing to do. Years later after the advent of longrange lazar range finders we ranged where he fell under a lone pine tree from the cattle guard my pickup was sitting on @ the time 988 yards.

Let me say this. I did ALOT of homework prior to trying the mile shot and kept working out from 1000yards. 1200 1640 and then 1774. Shot Nine times that day hit only Three. Still I thought succesfull as I was shooting off a bipod in the prone position.
Also would like to say that I have several several costom Match Rifles that are super sub 1/2MOA rifles and the rifle mentioned above is a bone stock Remington Sendero in 7mm Rem Mag with a 40MOA scope base and 4.5X14 Leupold VeriXIII 30mm and 50mm obj Side Focus. Trigger tuned. A true Sub 1/2 MOA rifle. kinda makes me mad that I spend all this money on this costom stuff and this dang Sendero keeps right up with them.
Norma Brass. Winchester Primer, H 4831SC, 162Gr Amax. @2970fps elevation was around 1500feet above sea level.

Impressive! When I'm out driving around, I like to look at the mile markers and imagine what it would be like to accurately take shots at a mile. Or a half mile for that matter. It sure is amazing stuff.

Rem LA opened to mag bolt face and Sendero barrel added by Bob Hart. McMillan stock, Leupold 6.5-20. 150 Gr NBT and alot of 7828. 625 yard and 545 yard deer. One shot each, bang, flop. Off a bench, thank you!
