7MM Rem Mag bullet

Been using the 175 hornady eld x in my 28 nosler, my dad an brother has been using the 162 hornady eld x in there 7mm's with very good results from 200 to 600 yards. I took a whitetail at 712 yards with my 28 very good results fell in her tracks so did the one at 85 yards.

168 Berger .020 off the lands with 70.8gr h-1000 shoots really good out of a 7 mag I'm working with right now. 3091fps with 27" barrel. I could gas er up more but it just shoots to good.

Assuming factory barrel, the 162 would probably provide a fair balance of accuracy and retained energy for longer shots. In my current and past 7 Mags (4), the heavier bullets just weren't as accurate in any of them as I would have liked. otherwise - I'd have gone heavier. Seems the ultimate accuracy with all four came with bullets in the 140 - 150 grain range, though at 700 yards - I'd want heavier. Even the 7 mag doesn't retain that much killing energy at 700 yards with the lighter bullets.

7mm 162 to 180's would work well. I'm currently using 180 scenars with Retumbo and they shoot great in a factory 26" 1:9 twist barrel around 2950 fps.

What bullet do you guys recommend for the 7 Rem Mag for long range white tails (approx 190 lb+-)
took my 7mm to Africa with 180gr bergers handloads and got 6 large animals with 6 shots all (dit) dead in tracks. shots were from 285 to 500yds. I love bergers!

I shoot the Nosler accubond long range 168 grain bullets and have had great results in accuracy and terminal performance. I shoot them in my 7mm Mauser as well and love them.

I have shot dozens of deer from 20 yards to 650 yards with the 7mmRemMag.
My favorite is
140 gr Accubond 3.34" 65.1 gr IMR-4451

Quickload predicts 24" barrel 72.2 kpsi 3265 fps

Chronograph measures
3244 fps
3267
3252

They are old fashioned but don't discount the old 160 Sierra spitzer boat tail. My dad has used them exclusively in his 7mm Rem Mag since 1975. There will be no changing his mind. He's on his second barrel and its the same load that he used in old original remy barrel. I couldn't begin to tell you the number of WV whitetails he has smoked with them.

I knew of a SC hunting club of about 10 members. All used the .m700 7mag with hand loaded 160 Sierras. Same story as your father, several hundred whitetail taken. No complaints. They won't be changing either.
