7mm/.284 Win Rifle build

I spent all day today hiding from the cold inside. Just sat and figured out how to use the features in Autodesk's Fusion 360 and managed to come up with a design for the back portion of it. Now is up to print out the measurements and cut it tomorrow regardless of the temperature. Getting so close to finish it! ;)

Braved the cold and got 80% of the rear stock done. Just need slots for the adjusters, holes for the shafts and some other little details. Weight so far is 15# 12oz with a 1" diameter 30" long barrel. So far I like the weight and the way is turning out.

That will be an easy add on. Just build two small block clamps and the round part in between them. Or just drill and tap the holes for it and make the bag rider piece. It will attach where the red L shape is in the picture. Also thinking building a folding rear monopod too. What I love about modular chassis is that the options are endless.

Yesterday I managed to cut the adjusters for the cheek and shoulder pads and pretty much finished the rear part of it. Then today did a rework of the trigger guard. Just a few details here and there and it should be finished.

I went and got it sighted. Then lapped my rings a bit to match the POI with the scope because I was off travel going down. Then the day I went to test for a 2nd time the wind was around 20-25mph and the target was flopping like a flag. :D

But I'll go again once I get some time off from work. Here's a few pics of that 20+ mph target flopping day. Should be way better with just a little or now wind.

Really fantastic looking rifle. Might have missed it. Did you do the bipod yerself as well? If so is there a thread for it?

Yes. All done by me. No build thread since I knocked off in a 3 day rush. Still a work in progress. I need time to fine tune it here and there.

Rifle is 14lbs, 12 oz. with 30" barrel and a porky SB 12-50. The bipod weight is 1lbs 3oz. Entire rig ready to shoot is almost 16lbs.

She turned out great. Now to see how she finally shoots.

I need to test it in a calm day to show up how it shoots. Then is up for sale and time to build another one. So if someone is interested in buying it, just let me know. We might even go and set up a test before you buy if you are close to NC. :D

Did more testing today at 100yds. Wind was 10-15 mph but groups were acceptable even with the target flopping around a bit. 1st group next to my pinky and 2nd to the right. Both are less than 1/2" which is not bad in a windy day. Second pic is the 3rd group (4 shots)and ran out of ammo after that. (Only 10 rds available from last reload). Need to reload another 100rds and I guess now I'm ready to hit 600yds and keep testing loads.
