New F-Class Rifle

Speedy Gonzalez finished in March my new F-Class rifle and just got my new scope on it.

Robertson GBF stock done in metallic grape coming close to matching a Dupont Hot Hues color. Speedy inleted the stock, added vents and bedded a piece of anschutz rail inside the fore end channel to be able to mount a centershot carbon fiber bipod if I ever want to run the rifle in FTR.

BAT M Action

Krieger 30 inch HV 8.5 twist barrel chamber in 6.5x47

Jewell BR Trigger

BAT 40 MOA Aluminum Rail

Schmidt & Bender PMII 12-50x56 scope with Sport Fine Reticle

Badger Alloy 34 mm rings

First match out, the rifle scored a 597-33x in a 300 yard match (winning the f-open category) using the Lapua 108 on top of RL15.

Thanks Speedy

Sweet looking rig! How do you like that S&B now that they finally got your reticle right? That Sport Fine dot is .09 right?

Danny

I like the Sport Fine reticle,, dot size is perfect for me and I like the layout of the reticle. Clarity of the S&B is awesome.

I started off with the sport dot but soon changed to the sport fine, as you say awesome glass.

I even managed to get the drum on the second rotation the other day by taking my 6BR out to 1200 yards

Nice rifle. Have been thinking about the S&B myself. Do you see any downside to it?
How is the eye relief and clarity at 50x?

And how does it shoot groupwise?

I shoot with Arne often, and it shoots as good as it looks... ;)

I have also looked through the S&B, and it is nice glass, no doubt. The sport fine has basically the same size dot as a NP2DD NF, so that is good, but at 50X I find the exit pupil is very sensitive (not a S&B issue, same with any 50X scope), eye relief is a-ok.

Summary, I'm just not sold on it's value (value being cost v. performance) though. I have already bought and sold two March's as well, and for the value, keep coming back to NF.

The only downside to the S&B is the click adjustments are very close together, unlike the NF which you could do in the dark.

Eye relief is about 3 inches, I'm not sure I would want it on a big banger without a brake or sound moderator. I have a 7WSM F class rifle and I guess in time I will put the S&B on it but for the time being it stays on the 6BR.

Sorry for the slow reply,,

Rifle is shooting great,,, Won class in its first 300 yard match with a 597-33x and just came in 3rd in last weekends 1000 yard match. Since it is switch barrel rig, I have 6.5x47, 6.5-08 AI and 308 W barrels for it.

As far as the S&B scope, it is great for optical clarity and the adjustments work great. I don't have any issue with eye relief. If you are in the market for an ultra-premium scope, the S&B 12-50 IMO is a far better investment over some other brands given its long warranty that is transferrable and S&B running a US technical center to provide service.

On the 6.5x47,

130 Berger VLD is current bullet for 600 and 1000 yards

108 Lapua Scenar is for 300 yards.
