7mm-08 Redding body die for a 260?

Looks like the length to the body/shoulder junction is the same, as well as the shoulder/neck junction.

If all you're doing is sizing the body and the shoulder is there any reason that the 7mm-o8 die wouldn't work for a 260 case?

I've never tried it. Might work in a pinch but, I'd be concerned about getting a uniform shoulder bump since the 7mm-08 die won't contact the entire length of the 260 Rem. shoulder. This would bump only a portion of the shoulder and leave the case hard to chamber. Note: My Hornady manual shows body dimensions ( base to shoulder & base to neck/shoulder jct.) to be considerably different. Don't think you could push a 260 case far enough into a 7-08 die to actually set the shoulder back. Just my .02

Interesting. The reamer specs that I've seen show the base to shoulder measurement as the saame between the 7mm-08 and the 260, hence the question.

Your reamer drawings may be more accurate than the Hornady manual case drawings ??? ............. Maybe I've opened a can of worms? Considering the popularity of the 260 Rem. surely someone has actual experience with a 7mm-08 die. Sorry if I've muddied the water :-\

This is the only print I found where the base to neck/shoulder junction varied. Looks like the body/shoulder junction is the same. If a body die doesn't size the neck than it would seem a die for one would work for the other, no?

Well, seems we're comparing apples to oranges...... case drawings vs. chamber drawings. I'd still be concerned about not setting back the entire shoulder. Kind of like putting a false shoulder on a case for fire forming purposes. I'd think that if you could push the shoulder back on a fully fire formed case, say .002", and still chamber the round with minimum resistance you'd be good to go. ......... Where are the guys that have tried this? :) HEEEEELP!
