7mm-08 120 TTSX vs 308 130 TTSX

I'd be tempted to look at Cutting Edge or Hammer bullets, both make a few in 130-135gr that will be plenty fast enough in the 7-08, and will deliver the goods. the CE ER 135gr Raptor strikes me as a good bullet for the purpose, if I were to go mono. I've been using 140 partitions for 35 yrs in 7-08, but never had a shot over 350 with them. haven't heard a bad word about CE, lots of people are happy with Hammer bullets too, they have a few choices in 130 gr zone.

Can also get a 110 in the 7mm. Can drive 3200-3300 fps as well.

I'm a true believer in lighter TTSX work better out to 300 - 400 yards. The 110 TTSX sounds like a perfect deer bullet with a great point blank range.

I wanted to have the flattest shooting deer rifle from the rifles I already owned. I chose my hunting 300winmag and 130 TTSX out the muzzle right around 3,550 fps.
If I remember correctly, I think I sighted it at 2.5" high at 200 yards and it ended up hitting 2.5" low at 325 yards. Another bonus was this bullet shot better than any other I've ever tried.

I may try them. I have a model 7 in 7-08 and one in 308 as well as my tactical 308 I currently set up for berger 180’s and 165 gamechangers. I have used 338 160 ttsx in my 338 win mag at 3200 and my brothers 338 win mag. Both shoot same load well. I hope he uses it for deer this year so i can try something else lol

I forgot to mention. I loaded the 130 TTSX in the 300winmag and best accuracy had the bullet jumping to the rifling a little over 0.200"... Other components I used were Hybrid-100V (over book max working up slowly), F.C. brass. 215m primers. I kept noticing the faster they came out the barrel the better the groups. No pressure signs. COAL was 2.250" (very deep inside the case and VERY far from the lands).

I have the same experience with those 130 ttsx out of my browning BAR 308. I had them at 2.80" col and they were shooting right at 1 moa at 100 yards. It's an 18" barrel so they were only going 2850 fps. On a whim, I seated a few down to 2.750" col and the groups went down to .5 moa. Haven't measured it but I'm pretty darn sure they are very far off the lands also.

Every barnes ttsx/lrx I have tried out of multiple calibers really like to be hot rodded. Give it some heat = smaller groups! just be careful not to go too crazy!

I have an older Savage HB, with flat top. pre accutrigger. It shoots Hornady SSTs lights out in 7-08. It is 139 gr bullet FWIW. I would try some lighter Sierra MKs if they are around.
