For once you guys are finding out what it's like NOT to have brass, bullets and powder readily available. This is what we deal with all the time over here with the importers generally sending us the leftovers of what couldn't be sold in the US.
I currently shoot a few 7saum's and was nearly in a situation of having 2 brand new rifles and no cases to use in them :-(
This got me thinking about maybe doing a wildcat. They've all been done before and their is always a factory round that duplicates the ballistics but this is more about component availability then anything else.
The requirements are
<Must be able to push a 180gr 7mm at 2900 plus
<brass must be readily available
<case can be formed by necking up or down but does NOT require fire forming
I was thinking something like a 7mm-06 would be about perfect?
From what I understand the 280 is longer in the neck so 7-06 cases wouldn't be an ideal fit in a 280 chamber.
What about dies?
