I have found an unfired Remington 700 police in 223 I’m thinking about buying. It is the 26” 1in 9. im thinking early 2000’s. Any info About accuracy and bullets that shoot good in these would be appreciated. I have done some searching but don’t come up with much. Thanks ahead of time.

9 tw should easily handle the 69s. No experience for 75s and up.
Being button rifled, it may be 9 to 9.5 actual. Button tw and how "fast" a bbl is will always be in the "got to be determined" category.
No reason it won't shoot half inch, maybe better unless bbl is a real turkey. jmo
Sounds like a nice find to me w the 26" tube.

I bought mine for $700.00, but inflation might come into play how bad you want it. I've seen some beat up Remingtons 700 in 223, and sellers want inflated prices on them.

The one I’m looking at is new. What bullets does yours shoot well?

I'm going to be very honest. Mine still remains unused, not a single round has been fired thru it. I've had that Remy for about 2 years.

And I just got myself a deal on a custom 223 that I negotiated here on this forum.

It's sometimes hard to keep up with all the different variants of Rem 700's even the 700P models.

Funny, because everyone always assumes the "P" in the 700P models such as the 700P PSS or 700P LTR stands for "Police" but it really just stands for that funky "parkerizing" finish those models come with.

They were primarily sold on Remington LE website; and the boxes had the correct model numbers and police designation. Remington LE had the 26” police model in 223, and also the LTR model with a 20” barrel. Both 9 twist. I’ve had both, and both shot 1/2 moa on average. Better if the shooter was having a good day.

Treated right, fed right, I have seen them shoot waaay above the price tag.
Be aware that the earlier guns had a long leade that some of the armchair type-peckers criticized. Mostly BS!!!
Tuned properly I’ve seen them shoot 40, 50, 55, 69’s very well, and depending on MV and altitude, 75’s are not out of the question but stability starts to get kinda iffy.
Just remember that the “jump” may affect pressure and velocity.
Enjoy the trip, it’s one worth taking.

Best I can do for now.
Not sure on the precise time line. I know of one that was purchased about 2010 that still had the long leade. Just seat a 75gr dummy round long and try to chamber it. You'll know.
But for years the macho "huff 'n puffs" whined about the excessive jump in the "P" guns(308 & 223) and how it was detrimental to accuracy. Personal testing convinced me that it probably did help keep pressure down(a consideration if a P-Dept happened to stuff overpressure surplus stuff in the tube).
Considering everything I decided it was mostly malarky. Just one monkey miming another.
They were never designed to compete in bench-rest or the Olympics.
Custom, no.
Perfect fit and finish, no.
But in my experience, if a fellow is a 2moa shooter he will never know if the gun will shoot in the .1s or .5s. But his piss-poor performance will ALWAYS be an equipment shortcoming.
The P guns that I've shot were much more inherently accuracy than the average "gun counter sniper" could ever appreciate.
