700 ADL Changing?

I stopped by the gunstore this afternoon looking for a .223 700 ADL to rechamber and make a 22BR. I was told that they were down to one of them because Remington was now making them with a floorplate that would cost $425 or so vs $379 for the one they had. Is this just gunstore hype? Are there any problems with using the ADL for a varmint and casual paper gun? I may eventually rebarrel to a 6BR.

Please ignore the above reference to using a .223 to provide an action for a BR. The .223 case is longer than the BR case so the barrel would have to be cut and rethreaded before rechambering which will increase the cost significantly. Also the bolt face is smaller and won't fit the BR case and would have to be opened also increasing the cost. The 22-250 or 243 could be used for the bolt face but would still need a new barrel.

I heard the same thing about ADLs. There are a TON of them on gunsamerica.com and the like in the $350 range. You might want to do a little research on the Remington J-Lock also if you are not already familiar with it.........
