700 Action Question?

How do you remove a "glued in" Rem 700 action from a benchrest stock? axe? hammer?

I use a clothes iron on the 'high' or 'cotton' setting. Take the rings off and put it across the top of the bases. In about 10-12 minutes, you can take it right out. A small piece of wood between the barrel and the stock at the fore end to add to wedge pressure can be helpful.

Make sure the iron isn't one that has the auto shut off, though. -Al

crowkiller,
most glued in actions also have the recoil lug completely surrounded, thus tilting the bbl upward with pressure between it and the stock can be a bad idea.

take a piece of wood shaped to fit up the mag well to the under sideof the action, tap it straight up after the freezer or heating iron and you will have better results
