7 SAUM. Please help

Yes these rifles are all light weight hunting rifles with muzzle brakes.
But will a seating depth test shrink a group that is say 1.25” down to .25”????
If the powder test is good with low ES??

Considering f class guys are happy with a 1/4 minute rifle asking for that in a light hunting rig is a bit optimistic

I have shot less than 1” groups at 600 with my hunting 7 saum light weight rifle. I would say in the 2-3” is more frequent. But yes, seating depth plays a huge roll in accuracy.

I have had (4) 7 saum barrels for hunting. All shot 180 Bergers. 24”-26”. H4831SC and RL23 were 2880-2920. It’s not a comp gun.

The 180 hybrids always shot between 10-20 off. Even with that bullet seating depth makes a huge difference.

I’m still not getting anything under .60”
So I’m going to try the 168 Berger’s instead.
I think the guns don’t like the 175’s ‍♂️

Also what twist are these barrels? 175 grain bullets may be too heavy for your twist rate?

NEVER MIND,I SEE THE QUESTION WAS ANSWERED

My 7saum is 1/9.25 twist just a little slow for the 168vld hunting bullets at 940 fasl where I live. Yours should work great. I went to the 150 classic Hunter, loaded to 3000+. I am 0.055 off the lands.

Well, I sure wouldnt hunt at 1k with a saum, but I have had no trouble tuning every one I have owned in a hunting platform into the ones at 600 yds. 180 hybrids .015 off (to start), H4350, Br2 or 250 primers, 2930 fps in 26". I had some good ones with H1000 and fed 215s as well, same speed.

Just change your primer, cci br2 will do nicely.

The 215M was my and a friends issue. We changed to Murom (think it is called Wolf in the USA) initially and saw immediate improvement. Then tested 6 different ones and Br2 gave the best results.

Ok I’m going to test some Berger 180’s in the morning and also the 175’s with a different primer (210) and also the 180’s will have the 210 as well

So I have switched bullets and tried the 180vld
And switched primers tries the 210’s
And also switched powder and tried H1000 and H4350 and had a little luck with 4350 but it would not stay consistent.
So on average on a 5 shot group I’m still over an inch

PLEASE help

So you’ve done a seating depth test with this new combo?

No I haven’t only because the groups are over an inch and didn’t know if they will shrink that much from seating alone.

But my es is under 9 with the new combo
Even as low as 5 over 5 shots but not good accuracy
