7 SAUM barrel length. Hunting use

I have a Rem 700 BDL stainless, with the factory tube cut back to 22", bedded into a mcmillan compact. It's easily my favourite hunting rifle. I'm in the east, where shots tend to be between 0-300yds, and have been shooting 120 TSX at 3350.

Nice! What's the weight and how's the recoil on that rifle?

I havn't wieghed it, but my guess is 8 lbs with a vari-xIII 2.5-8 w/ M1 elevation turret. Recoil isn't bad with the 120's. I've always meant to try 162 amaxes or elds, but havn't gotten around to it. I expect recoil might start to get my attention with heavier pills.

Mine has a 25" barrel, for me I wouldn't want to go below 23". Muzzle blast and velocity loss are the biggest reasons.
