7 mm to 28 nosler

My son knows I spend a lot of time reading on his forum. He figures the information I get off here is probably as accurate as he can get.
He has a brand new 7 mm mag Proof Research barrel that has never been fired. He has the itch to build a 28 nosler. Is it practical to have this particular barrel re-reamed to 28 Nosler? Me personally, I would like to know y'all's take on the benefit.

I found out a little while ago a gunsmith recommended selling the 7mm barrel and starting fresh. He was concerned about how much steel was left if he started cutting on an already reamed 7mm carbon fiber barrel. What he said made sense to my small brain.

Once you get past the belted case vs the non belted, what the 28 Nosler gives is more powder to burn. Do you need it?

Here is a pretty good article. It does explain the concept of diminishing returns.

it s difficult to determine whether the added metal removed by going to the larger diameter and longer case would compromise the strength of the barrel. It all depends on the contour beneath the carbon wrap.

Also, how difficult will it be to actually chuck up the carbon wrapped barrel to do the rechambering?
