7.65 argentine from 30-06

anybody make 7.65 argentine mauser brass out of 30-06 brass??? do you cut the brass shorter before you size?? any tips to make this go smoother?? would like to fire up a old rifle to play around with. thanks cliffe

Redding has a 7.65x53 Form & Trim die, #83243. Both Graf and Sinclair catalog it. Costs ~$43,plus S&H). The '06 case is extruded through this die, and the excess is cut off with a hacksaw, hardened die). Standard prep after this step. RCBS has their trim die for about $10 less.

Is this the caliber you're asking about? Redding identifies it as Belgian Mauser, 31 cal.

cliffe,

I use either 8X57 or 7X57 Mauser cases to form 7.65 Arg. It saves a lot of trimming from the 3006. Both 8 and 7X57 length are 2.235. The 3006 is 2.484. The trim length on the 7.65 is 2.09. But, ya gotta use what you got. The 7.65 Arg. is really a fun cartridge that performs well.

i used a dremel and a cut off wheel for shortening the case. after that i chamfered the neck and trimmed to length with a lee case trimmer and a cordless drill. next question, anybody have any loads to try?? i picked up some 150 gr. sierra bullets. will have to get a trim die pretty soon, but i made up 20 cases to play with for now. thanks for the replies. cliffe
