7-300PRC?

Getting 8X68 brass was hit or miss. I wasn't trying to replace it. I always had a two year supply of everything. It was everyone else that was interested in an alternative cartridge. The Hornady gang was shooting the BooBoo and when brass dried up they started looking at alternative cases. The PRC is just slightly larger than what is needed for pure accuracy work but with the development of heavier match bullets it works and works well.
As far as Hornady brass being soft yea I guess it is compared to some but if I need another 75 FPS out of it I probably should have something else in my hands.
My hunting loads are with 4831SC w/212's running a mild 2825. I could get another 100+ FPS but I'm not going to be shooting anything past 500 yds so why take the beating.

Serious question. Why not a 300WSM if you are going to run it so slow?

Drudging up a 6 year old thread here. Any updates on the 7-300 PRC? Looking at a 190 Hybrid going 3100fps ish out of a 28" barrel.

28 Nosler is on my list, but wanted to explore the 7-300PRC as well. Hence the post here and it seems no one is running it or has run it.

Guess this Chambering is a dead fish. No replies for the 7-300PRC.
the 7 PRC, IS the Popular One,..
Lots of Brass, Bullets, Barrels, plus GOOD Speed ( 3,000 fps w/ 180's ) and, awesome ACCURACY !
Plus, it's, NOT Quite,.. the "Barrel Burner" that, the 7-300 PRC,.. "IS"
A FEW might, bother with It,.. But NOT,.. the "Masses" !

I already have a 280 Ackley and a 7Rem Mag. The 7mm PRC does nothing that either of those two dont already do. 280 is a light weight MuleDeer/ White tail rifle. the 7Rem Mag is a heavy Barrel Long range target rifle which has served me very well. The Ole Rem mag is Very accurate and now on its 3rd barrel. No Need for the 7mm PRC.
I have a straight 1.25" 7mm Barrel i would like to build a Larger case capacity rifle on. Hence the question about the 7-300PRC case. Not that i need to explain all of this as either you have experience with it and have something to contribute to the thread title. or not.
Hope this finds you well.

I shoot a 7-300 Win Mag with a 28" Bartlein and 180g ELDMs at 3000fps with H1000. I can get up to 3100-3150fps, but the accuracy is so much better at 3K, plus it's super easy on the brass.

I would think the 7-300 PRC would be almost identical, when loaded to the same pressures, since the case capacity are pretty much the same.

Its a very practical 7mm for LRH or target shooting, which is why I had one built.

And you would be right. We built 7-300 Win. Mag. a couple of decades ago proving to be successful for hunting and targets. The difference now though is we have better bullets.

Everyone has different opinions and there is a variety of cartridges to enjoy! Build more, shoot more and have more fun!
