7&300 SAUM

Just traded for one of each, Remington model #7 Both in box. I have read various articules on both with good reviews. Anyone shoot these? If so what say? I see where the SAUM takes less powder to achieve the same results as the WSM's in the same caliber. These are hunting rifles, so I don't expect too much other than hunting rifle accuracy. Of all the Remington's I've had out of the box, they shot very well. I would appreciate some comments on the calibers. Thanks Lou

You've read the article on the 7 SAUM on the main site yes?

I personnaly think you made a good choice. Biased as hell, but I also have one each. Mine are 700 BDL's though. I chunked both plastic stocks, replaced both j locks, adjusted triggers, lapped lugs, and bedded both stocks. Both shoot very well and I am pleased with both.

After considerable expense with reloading components and good dies, I should be set if brass ever dries up.

My experience with both calibers and the chronograph is spot on with available reloading data. In other words, I found no magic extra speed in either one. As they were are fast to start with, no tears were shed. I have kind of settled down to 2 hunting bullets, both are Accubonds (7mm-140 and 300-165), and 2 4350's (IMR and H).

I have both calibers in M7s myself. I love them! I use Varget in my 300 and Norma URP and Hunter in my 7SAUM. Shooting 140s in both rifles, I get 3220fps with the 300 and 3175fps with the 7. I shot up to 180s with the 300 and 7 but I could not get acceptable velocity to make it worthwhile. Both rifles are capable of less than 1/2 MOA out to the 500m I have shot them.
